EXHIBITION

VINCENT MALASSIS (FR)

DOUBLE D’OR

Superflux, Bazouges-la-Pérouse

Exhibition from October 19, 2025 to February 13, 2026

“As part of my residency with the festival Le Grand Soufflet (Rennes), in two nursing homes, in Rennes and Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault, I explore three types of portrait: spontaneous, capturing the connections between the residents; poetic, inspired by their analogue photos printed last summer; fictional, replaying the visual codes of album covers from the golden age of the accordion, like Yvette Horner or André Verchuren. Simultaneously, inspired by my encounters with the residents and their stories, I have been accompanying Laura Aubry — accordion player and vocalist — in the creation of her next album.”

Exhibition created as part of an artist’s residency coordinated by Le Grand Soufflet and supported by DRAC Bretagne, l’ARS Bretagne and Département 35. The artist will take place in a new residency at Superflux from 18 March to 24 May 2026.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born 1979 in Fougères, Vincent Malassis is a photographer, composer and acoustic artist. He lives and works in Rennes and Paris. His experimentation at the crossroads of visual art and sociological research has resulted in an approach that is both artistic and documentary. He questions reality through the prism of local social context and bears witness to community life by appropriating intimate and geographic territory. His photographs often echo his musical pieces or grow out of his interdisciplinary collaborations.
