As part of their international program, the GLAZ Festival has set up a project between Ateliers du Vent, in Rennes, a space dedicated to multidisciplinary artistic creation recognised for its commitment to research and experimentation, and GRAIN Projects, a British platform for contemporary photography and collaborations produced and distributed on a local and international scale, confounded and directed by Nicola Shipley.
The exhibition is a dialogue between Estelle Chaigne, Catherine Duverger and Candice Hazouard, (three Rennes artists) and Lydia Goldblatt, Murray Ballard and Sam Laughlin (three British artists). For several days, the six artists will move into the Ateliers du Vent to create a visual conversation between their respective pratiques, responding to each other and nurturing a creative crosschannel discussion. The themes explored concern ideas around community, memory, the natural environment, ritual, loss, identity and transformation.
This project is supported by Les Ateliers du Vent, GRAIN Projects, the Arts Council England, GLAZ Festival and Brittany Ferries.
Originally from Normandy, in 2010, Jean-Christophe Godet founded the Guernsey Photography Festival, a major cultural event on this little channel island. Passionate about multi-disciplinarity and the transversality of audiences, in 2021 he created Photo-Symphony, a visual and musical experience combining photography and symphony orchestra. In 2023 he confounded the GLAZ Festival in Rennes, bringing together internationally renowned photographers and emerging new talent.
